Sticky the Barn Owl

During the year we have kept you updated on our very first admission of the year, a barn owl that lost most of its damaged wing and tail feathers. We were unsure just how long it would take to regrow those feathers as a previous case took close to two years. You can imagine how surprised we were when we checked her feathers and saw the amazing difference in about eight weeks since her last examination. We did not expect the regrowth to be so quick and the number replaced so high in the first year. The top two pictures show the initial damage, and the lower picture shows how they are now. She has regrown enough feathers to be successfully released back into the wild in the very near future. It is just a matter of her building up strength then off she will go
