Since October 2002, we have had some "Twilight Flying" sessions, giving people a chance to see some of the owls flying in the dark. Over the summer, we continue with evening flying events, though not in the dark. The evening flying sessions include a flying display of 45-60 minutes duration and hot soup, rolls and baked potatoes and filling, or a BBQ or a full meal (depending on time of year), all included in the entrance fee. Details of the next event will be posted when dates have been confirmed.

These events are proving very popular and, due to constraints of our dining area, places are limited, so advanced booking is advised. Please contact us for details of admission prices without the meal included. Please note also, there is a fixed menu for the evenings events, special dietary requirements can only be arranged if you let us know in advance when booking.

Sponsored Fund Raising Events

Each year we aim to have a sponsored event to raise money for The Raptor Foundation. In 2002, a group of volunteers and staff were involved in a sponsored cycle around Rutland Water, raising £800.

The sponsored event for 2004, a 24 hour rowing marathon, took place from 12noon on Tuesday 11^th May through to 12noon on Wednesday 12^th. The event raised just over £1600, which has gone towards signs for aviaries and the Education Room. In 2008 we raised over £2000 by holding a 12hour flying display.

The 2003 fund-raising activity was a sponsored parachute jump. The event took place on September 3rd, at Sibson Airport, just outside Peterborough. Liz, Tanya, Martyn, Alex, James & Tanya Ffitch. Martyn, Alex & James all made solo, static line jumps from 3500 feet. Liz & Tanya made tandem jumps from 13500 feet. Due to bad weather, Tanya Ffitch had to wait until September 14th to make her tandem jump.

The event raised over £1500, the money going towards completion of our education room.

Any ideas as to what activity the staff & volunteers can be persuaded to take part in to raise money in future years would be gratefully appreciated - please feel free to join in yourself.

Birthday parties for up to 15 children (all ages welcome) can be held in the Silent Wings Party Room, which will be decorated with balloons and a banner. The cost per child for a party is £6.50 (party bags are available at an additional £1.99 per head). The price includes admission, a personal tour of The Raptor Foundation, a flying display and an opportunity to fly one of our many owls, as well as a choice from a hot, cold and healthy option party menu. We also allow 1 adult free admission per 4 children.

We can provide a birthday cake, at a cost of £15, this needs to be ordered at the time of booking.

Your party at The Raptor Foundation will be an enjoyable, educational and memorable experience for which we recommend that you allow a minimum of 2 hours.

You can also print & fill in our Booking Form and return to us by post or fax, but we do advise that you check that your required date is available. A non-refundable deposit of £10 is required when you book you party & we do require you to book at least 10 days in advance. The contacts page has our full address for correspondence.

In addition to the fund-raising activities that are held for The Raptor Foundation, we are able to bring along some of our birds to enhance your fund-raising activities or any other events.

We have provided flying displays at large events such as the Air Show at RAF Waddington, Lincolnshire, smaller events such as the Annual Summer Carnival of the local village of Doddington and even a wedding in July 2003. We are also available for promotional events, we have taken some of our birds along to book shops in the area and to Hamley's toy shop in London promoting the Harry Potter books & films.

Whatever the size of your event, we are able to provide both static displays, where your visitors will be able to see our owls and hawks close up, and also flying displays. Please contact us for advice on the type of display we can provide for you and the prices.
